It’s way worse than what you think,
The Government wants to be able to surveil and ban ANY application and allow unlimited search and seizure based on their perceived ‘safety concerns’. For ANY app that effectively has more than a million users. Which is like all mainstream apps.
I’m talking about Senate bill 686
Yea, and there’s punishments for not complying. Don’t worry, it will probably fall under their new Civil Forfeiture so they’ll take your stuff anyway. Court order and all.
“(c) Criminal Penalties.—
(1) IN GENERAL.—A person who willfully commits, willfully attempts to commit, or willfully conspires to commit, or aids or abets in the commission of an unlawful act described in subsection (a) shall, upon conviction, be fined not more than $1,000,000, or if a natural person, may be imprisoned for not more than 20 years, or both.”Senate bill 686
So you could face up to a 20 year prison sentence with a fine of a million dollars for downloading a banned app, or using an unapproved VPN or accessing an unapproved or sanctioned WAN, WAPs, Mobile access points, Web applications, or using an unapproved Crypto coin or communication device.
(K) e-commerce technology and services, including any electronic techniques for accomplishing business transactions, online retail, internet-enabled logistics, internet-enabled payment technology, and online marketplaces.-Senate Bill 686
So this includes crypto and e-commerce technology. . .
Yea, Idk about you, but the Government is overstepping it’s shit. Like big time.
It also wants to stop the spread of disinformation. . .
(E) No person may, whether directly or indirectly through any other person, make any false or misleading representation, statement, or certification, or falsify or conceal any material fact, to the Department of Commerce or any official of any other executive department or agency—
(i) in the course of an investigation or other action subject to this Act, or any regulation, order, direction, mitigation measure, prohibition, or other authorization or directive issued thereunder; or
(ii) in connection with the preparation, submission, issuance, use, or maintenance of any report filed or required to be filed pursuant to this Act, or any regulation, order, direction, mitigation measure, prohibition, or other authorization or directive issued thereunder.-686
So they want to stop ‘fake news’ that the Government Subjectively decides is ‘fake’.
Sounds like Fascism to me boys.
Because, to be honest, the Mainstream Media would be targeted too. If the Media wasn’t already a bought out puppet arm for the Private interests, then the Media would become State Media. But with this Senate bill, it becomes a fact that the Media is State Media. Only allowed to send the approved message and nothing more. Guaranteeing the fact that all forms of Public Media have the Governing Parties’ Seal of Approval.
Yea, News is Dead and it’s fake as fuck.
This has been happening since Snowden.
I mean, Snowden revealed all this.
And there’s plenty of paper trails. It’s just brazen as fuck that they’re pushing this pretty bad.
And if this comes to pass, things are gonna get worse -probably-.
Basically, you don’t get anything in the bill of rights and the Internet gets banned. That’s the gist of the ‘tiktok ban’.
Also, there’s a nice clause that states;
(2) INAPPLICABILITY OF FOIA.—Any information submitted to the Federal Government by a party to a covered transaction in accordance with this Act, as well as any information the Federal Government may create relating to review of the covered transaction, is exempt from disclosure under section 552 of title 5, United States Code (commonly referred to as the “Freedom of Information Act”).
Yikes, sounds like no Rights for you, and you can’t know anything nor can you organize online. Like, at all.
Orwellian as fuck, welcome to the Techno Fascist Future of America.
I’m probably not going to write much longer if this takes effect.
Lol, it’s been a glorious run, let’s see how long I can last.
