US, during 2019, made a lot of allegation towards a Cellphone company that was disrupting the markets.
The US claimed it had spyware and backdoor access on these phones, and didn’t want them on the American Market for data reasons. You know, the same US that has allegedly asked tech companies to put spyware and backdoor access behind their phones, smart appliances, and microprocessor chips.
“Do as I say not as I do” type of thing, hypocritical.
The US also made claims in 2019 of alleging the CEO of Huawei to be connected to Iran, which violates US sanctions prohibiting business dealing with Iran, to include the financial systems or institutions.
Meaning, the US doesn’t practice free markets.
Because how is a Chinese company not allowed to sell phones to every country in the world? Based on a foreign country’s (US) self imposed trade restrictions?
Anyways, the US wanted to Extradite the CEO of Huawei from Canada to be tried in the American Courts. Subsequently the US banned Huawei phones in 2019. This case came to a close in 2021, through a negotiated settlement. The CEO returned to China and was welcomed as a Hero surviving persecution under the Tyranny of the US imperialism.

They made a law to ban national security risks, and targeted Huawei to be banned on an entity list. (in case you’re curious on the specifics of the sequence of events). Effectively banning US companies from using Chinesium Technology (including ZTE).

You know, they deemed it a national security risk.
The same Country, China, that manufactures the majority of iPhones;

And if you can connect the dots, you might consider that lobbyists for big tech, and Apple, might have played a hand in the ban. There is no direct evidence to this claim, but consider that there are direct benefits and secondary gain from this ban.
In fact, if we look at January 2025 to compare phones, you’ll see one is cheaper and better;

It’s clear that Apple and other US phone companies don’t want to innovate for cheaper, and they don’t want to compete in the free market with out big daddy government helping them;

On the flip side, Big daddy Government of the CCP is arguably helping these competitors reach and dominate markets. Well, their ‘markets’ include the CCP owning a share or percentage of the enterprise. So it’s arguably not just a Chinese Company, but the CCP itself.
So arguably it’s government vs. government and not free markets.
Another side note
One of the stupidest and biggest problems Corporate America faces, is the consequences of outsourcing the means of production. The Corpos thought they found a work around to Marxism and that noise. Instead, they gave all the means of reproducing their technology to a country, allowing others to create and innovate off of what could be proprietary technology.
That’s like having a country without nuclear capabilities be outsourced to produce nuclear weapons. You think they won’t reverse engineer or make their own shit? (Granted, Nuclear is way more regulated, but now consider a less regulated market like broad tech, and you’ll see my case-in-point).
In essence, outsourcing high tech is a shot in the foot in the long run.
In Closing
This is a US Corpo problem, disguised as an international issue, resulting in what appears to be governments fighting in trade wars, resulting in benefits to Corpos. It’s all of the above, technically.
I’m not saying who is or isn’t right. All I’m saying is, the price and technology of a smart phone should mirror and match the competition. I mean, we’re already being surveilled by all the governments and handlers, what difference does that make?
Hell, our own US companies are (allegedly) selling data to other countries, from private to medical, ontop of shitty security and Cloudflare, and SolarWinds breaches amongst many other.
What’s another eye added to the five eyes? Hell, let’s make it 300 eyes, as longs as I can get my Buckee’s nuggets and a forty dollar iPhone. Who cares. It’s not like these governments actually care about their people.
(I’m also joking, fuck surveillance capitalism. Yet we have keyloggers and Smartphones with dual cameras and infrared technology, so we’re deep in the fuck-shit-stack)

P.S.
Some people are speculating that the CIA asked Huawei to put back door access on their phones, and Huawei said no resulting in the ban and subsequent extradition court cases. Is it true? Idk, but worth noting.
