Getting Dream interrogated to produce Value

Had a Dream that I was being interrogated by some possible glowies, probably.

The trick when doing an interrogation, is to not let the victim know they’re being interrogated, you know, no stereotypical room with one bulb light swinging. Naw, they chose some sort of office high rise with tall glass windows dappled in sunshine to allow for an exquisite view of some shitmixxed Chicago-York-attle outside, a nice comfy chair, and a formal business casual attire to be friendly as if they’re dressing up as my psychotherapist. Ha, jokes.

The flow of the conversation was having me define specific terms, and I ended up rambling about the definition of Value for the sake of stalling time or something. I forgot, but I thought it worth sharing my findings in my sequence of bullshitting in a dream to shit posting online here in this shit post.

So I spewed out some nonsense finance non-sequitur shit like this;

You can measure Value of commercial things by 3 dimensions,

Time, Space, and Matter
When is it?
Where is it?
What is it?

Let’s take the value of a glass of water in a Desert,
it has some pretty high value in general.

If we change the When,

Does a Glass of water have more value five minutes ago? Or more value five minutes later?
What value does the Glass of water have after everyone dies of thirst?
Does a bottle of wine appreciate in value? What if it’s 2,000 years old? An Artefact?
Does a car depreciate in value? What if it collects rust? what if it’s in mint condition?

Time is also a function of scarcity and rarity.
In the beginning, there is less items of a specific model.
As time goes on, more items of that model are made.
Perhaps at some point, that model is discontinued. (Unless replicas and knockoffs are made)
And Value as a function of time typically (not always) follows an upside down bell curve.
Starting High, going down low, and finishing high again.
That doesn’t mean all things start high, nor do they go down in value, nor do they always finish high. Things are subject to subjective interpretation, such is value.

If we change the Where,

Does a Glass of water have more value in the Desert or the City?
There’s also the idea of proximity and scarcity,
Does a Glass of water have more value closer to other Glasses of water? Or does it have less value?
So the idea of rarity also adds value, which is a branch of locality or proximity relating to location.
In real estate, they often say Location Location Location.

If we change what it is,

Does a Glass of water have more value in the Desert, or does a Empty Glass Cup have more value?
The Material changed and it’s value also changed,
The use of the glass is the same, but due to not having water in it, the usability of the absent water is diminished.

What the item is, is also a part of an Item’s story. Art for instance would definitely be valued differently based on the story of it. If more people desired a specific piece, then that’s a function of the story behind the art. If the art was made by a famous painter, it immediately gets a function of the artist in terms of exchanged value by association.

Different materials matter. A Cobalt wrench works similarly but is structurally differently than a Steel one.

Different materials are also a function of scarcity. There’s only a finite amount of a specific particular thing. Arguably all things are limited edition, even if massed produced. A rare sword made from a famous blacksmith will have high value merely because of the material and method and story of the sword.

And Value is Akin to Beauty,

in the sense that Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder.

If you’re working in sales, you are essentially trying to convince someone value, and uncover the value for them. To upsell them on the idea to sell them into purchasing or believing in your product for the intrinsic or extrinsic value.

In Closing

I thought my dream ramblings were worthy of merit and worth some value to add value into the world, so I’m adding it here to this finance adjacent website in a god forsaken plot of web-domain condemned space to be graced by the eyes of the forsaken and the degenerates.

You’re welcome.

Value may or maynot be subjective, atleast perceived value is seemingly subjective.

Tales of a madman for some, but the true genius finds the value in the nuggets laid herein. You do you boo.
