A work visa is like slavery, it’s sort of outsourcing work to foreign nationals to be done by or within the normal constraints of your host country, coupled with some tax incentives, and the ability to unilaterally leverage domestic rule of labor laws in favor of exploitation. And chances are, the labor laws are leveraged in favor of exploitation.
Oh, you don’t want to work for me?
Get deported.
Oh, you want a raise?
But we have to pay for your work visa, and the annual fees and renewal, thats like +40k a year. You’re valuable and expensive, and we’re paying for you to enjoy America.
Be a shame if you got deported. . .
That’s the ‘implication’ game that they play.

Point being, Visas can be used as a way to hire pseudo-slave labor at below market prices undercutting the domestic job markets. It’s like outsourcing, but bringing the ‘outsourced employees’ ‘in’ so that you’re not technically outsourcing but still are. It’s coupled with a chance of citizenship as a incentive program for a long term loyalty reward- it’s weird. Basically like a slave earning freedom, but freedom is citizenship.
A lot of corporations and policy makers push for raising limits and caps on H1-B Visas and similar style work visas. For instance, non-government organizations like the ‘US Chamber of Commerce’ is lobbying to raise H1-B Visas as early as 2021. People don’t lobby for the goodness of their hearts, they do it for a monetary interest, so there’s some sort of feedback loop furthering the cycle of perpetuating maximizing potential Visa slavery.

And the thing to note is, slavery is very very profitable, that’s why people did it all throughout time. This also includes the modern and current prison industrial system that uses convicts as slaves. I’m not saying slavery is good, I’m merely stating facts that people love exploitation and cheap labor. They would sooner higher robots that don’t complain and fire their workers then pay for workers and leisure time and rights.

Point being, if slavery is profitable, and people like money. Then you’ll reasonably see many companies and people try to profit from Visa Slavery. Illegal immigration, convicts, slaves, visa slaves, all different types of value and labor to be extracted by the large conglomerates that would sooner outsource your job to give themselves a slightly bigger Christmas bonus.
Here are some abuses towards Worker Visas;
HCL Technologies Wage Theft: A whistleblower lawsuit against HCL Technologies brought to light how the firm was allegedly underpaying H-1B workers by at least $95 million, compared to what U.S. workers were paid for similar positions. This case pointed to systemic underpayment and wage theft within the H-1B program. –source
Cloudwick Technologies: Underpayment: Cloudwick was found to have underpaid its H-1B workers significantly, promising salaries that were much higher than what was actually paid, which led to enforcement actions by the U.S. Department of Labor. –source
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS): Fraud Allegations: TCS has faced lawsuits and scrutiny for practices akin to those of HCL, including allegations of visa fraud where the company allegedly submitted applications for non-existent positions or for workers who were not yet identified, to game the H-1B visa lottery system. –google search
The fact that the H-1B Visa Lottery system is referred to as a ‘lottery’ system should be more than enough for anyone who can spot a racket to know that this system is rigged. Show me a national scale lottery that isn’t suspected of being rigged and perhaps I might have more faith restored in humanity. If not, well there’s always a bridge to sell to people gullible enough to believe in things like ‘national lotteries’ (people rig little league games, you think they wouldn’t rig billion dollar lotteries?).
Cash for Visas (including other countries)
A good look into some corruption- Cash for Visas- is basically, people pay-to-play for visas, and they pay to fast track their visas or buy a slot or ‘lottery ticket’ at getting a visa, even when they don’t have intent to work or study or fulfill the obligations of the visa.
This is occurring in other countries, I wouldn’t think it much of a stretch to find ‘localization’ in your country.

Even in NSW;
This scandal or corruption isn’t new;

You have someone in the desired country ‘fast track’ your Visa application form for a fee. Typically works with people of power, or who have consolidation of power and influence. It’s a rather common and low-hanging fruit of corruption.
If you got friends who are senators or high echelon members of the government, you can easily get a pass a lot quicker. Turns out, money and influence consolidate, and with it comes power both real and imagined (or implied).
And if you paid attention to the whole Rich Celebrities paying for their kids to get sport scholarships to get accepted into ivy league schools. Then you can reasonably infer that rich people would also do the same to get student visas to get their kids into both ivy league schools and a nation of their desired interests. Either they pay off Government officials or the school board officials, all of which to get Visas as well as an education and other factors. A Pay to play scheme.
Visa systems everywhere are fraught with corruption. I’m not here to say whether it’s bad or not, it’s most definitely a pay-to-play game. The processing itself costs money and there are legal hoops to jump through, along with strenuous waiting periods, so it’s complicated to say the least.
Gaming the System
There are anecdotal reports where people want access to a country, and sign up for a visa training program. Then a company will flagship and ‘groom’ the candidate to passing all the exams and tests to create a ‘carbon copy’ ideal candidate H1-B Visa member. Then the company will work in tandem with corrupt networks to pay to get their candidate accepted through other business channels.

These “Outsourcing Firms” and H-1B Abuse have been numerously reported on, particularly those based in India, have been accused of gaming the H-1B visa lottery system by submitting multiple applications for the same worker to increase chances of selection. This practice raises questions about the fairness and integrity of the visa distribution system.
Not sure what the truth is, but if it’s feasible and there is money incentives, then it’s highly plausible.

Honestly, the US Governments, both state and federal are just slapping a fine and collecting their gas fees. They don’t care genuinely that any of these are going on. If they did, they probably would overhaul the system and give a damn about actual government sovereignty instead of selling out to foreign handlers.
And there’s an industry practice ‘known’ as body-shopping, where companies will swap bodies to stick into closets to function as their IT support or whatever they’re forced to do for a Visa.
Body Shops in Tech Industry: The practice known as “body shopping” where H-1B workers are essentially leased out to different companies, often involves harsh working conditions. Workers can be moved from place to place, sometimes without proper housing or adequate pay. Reports have surfaced about workers living in cramped, makeshift accommodations to save on costs, essentially living in conditions that are far below acceptable standards.
Anecdotes in California
I heard from a friend in healthcare, that there’s several nursing temp agencies in California/Colorado/that shitty area in general, that hire strictly Philippin-o/a natives under visa contracts to work them under long hours and act as a middleman to extract pay.
Think of it like a sweatshop that brings in health care workers and puts them under sweatshop conditions in the US. They get threatened for deportation, while being subjected to labor law violations because they either lack the knowledge in knowing their rights or are denied them through manipulatory practices. You’re doing it for the money, they’re skimming money from you, stealing your hours, and at the end of the day you get to take home some of it and send back to your family. It’s fucked but it’s the gas fee of dealing in corrupt and shady practices under the table.
It be like that sometimes.
Some ridiculousness
It appears, that some H1-B visas are being called out for their ridiculous or extreme positions.
Because in theory, you hire Visa workers as a competitive complement to the work force, not as a replacement slave labor or as a indirect means to get people citizenship. In theory, of course, practice is much different.
And so many are raising the question on some job positions;

Because High skilled jobs outsourced should, in theory, not include jobs like cashier, cooks, or janitorial services. It somehow makes more cost effective to hire someone out of country, pay for the 40K+ annum visa processing fees, transfer them here, then pay them 30k a year subsistence amounts of money towards the average cost of living. It seems like an all around loss.
To be fair, most degrees and training are bullshit. But also outsourcing jobs and labor is also not a great answer unless you wanted some sort of pseudo-slave labor.

Granted, the amount of H1B visas approved in this case is small, in the hundreds;

The top 3 companies that applied for H1-B Visas for 2024, also had Visa issues and lawsuits in either labor law violations or fraud;

I’d imagine that you could probably find more lawsuits and fraud if you dig into the other ‘top’ H1-B visa company applicants.
All of which reeks of some sort of extortion or money laundering scheme. Similar to those described above.
Chances are, more work visas, implies a lower quality of work life and standard of living and cheaper pay. That’s just how things are when wage theft is the number 1 theft in all of America. In general- Work Visas are not a majority problem, it’s a small minority, but those who are in the work visa system are likely being abused if not the ones doing the abusing. So, the entire system should be scrutinized.
And if you have qualms with illegal immigration, then take it up with illegal channels. In which case, there are some instances of illegal immigration being used through the Visa system. But those number at most in the hundred or so thousands at most, and not the millions or so through other channels. Talk to someone that runs a tourbus or carries that government logistics app if you have qualms.
Side note
As another Visa tactic, deals with Real-estate;

And anyone paying attention to foreign investments in real estate of domestic markets, can reasonably infer the corruption above is similarly happening through EB-5 Program.
For a non-US look, take a prime look at British Columbia Vancouver, that’s got all the dirt you’ll see that is prevalent in most international real-estate visa schemes. It’ll sure rhyme.
Additionally, there are some hardcore bootlicking republicunts or conservatives that hate illegal immigrants but will at the same time hire entire swathes of illegal immigrants. I can’t fathom it. Maybe a Freudian Shadow-self projection? Idk. Point being, these bootlickers will talk shit about illegal immigrants while hiring them to exploit them.

I’m not here to get overtly political, because both sides suck. Point being, people are xenophobic enough to hate non-Americans while fundamentally not understanding what America is about, and at the same time hate on illegal immigrants and Visa Workers conflating the idea of ‘illegal’ to be broadly applied to even legal immigrants. You can hate the cogs in the machine, but if you focus only on the same cogs, you’ll never see the complexity and size of the machine, let alone the traitors amidst your own walls.
Additionally as an aside, you can ask or talk to anyone with a work visa and see how their life is holding. Chances are, if they’re not in a high STEM position, then they likely won’t even see or talk to you because their handlers are basically that, handlers. Imagine a temp-job agency but worse and add in more language barriers.
In Closing
I’ve been itching to write up this article for about 5 or so years now. I know, I’m a lazy piece of shit. This article wasn’t meant to have a racist veneer to it, it just seems that specific nations are targeting the Visas whether or not that’s geopolitically related is up for debate elsewhere. You can connect the dots yourself.
It is what it is.
Corruption from higher up the immigration office sort of officializes the whole veneer. The Corruption has changed the Visa and immigration programs to be de-facto Government sanctioned Human Trafficking.
I mean, Human resources is already the Politically cultured way of saying Human Trafficking, but now with Visa Work programs being akin to slavery (in some cases), perhaps this ought to be reviewed?
If the higher ups are in on it, then the fines and fees and ‘bombshell cases’ are just the cyclical tribute to keep the grease running and flowing in the economy. You know, to appease the masses and get them to feel like there’s something productive going on besides the occasional CEO being sacrificed on the pyramid of our man made horrors of corporate America.
Are all Visa Workers Slaves? No.
Are ZERO Visa Workers Slaves? No.
What’s the number 1 theft in all of Corporate America by a large margin? Wage Theft.
You have me believe that these companies wouldn’t commit the number one statistically largest theft in all of Corporate America to a class of foreigners with less understanding of the local systems and laws? Ha. Sure.
The wet dream of every corporate profitist is to have indentured servitude. It’s a plus when they aren’t recognized to have full rights like US Citizens. Why do you think sweatshops are so popular? Visa Workers just makes Wage Theft more easier and adds more middlemen to get a cut and vig. If they could reinvent taxes to tax your labor, they’ll find twenty different names for it and still nickle and dime you. In fact, they’re mad and upset that they didn’t think of it sooner.
I’d argue in many cases, both the companies hiring and the Visa Outsourcing Agencies are taking a ‘cut’ like a shitty temp agency ripping off workers from both ends. Stuck between an exploiter and an exploiter. What a shitty life. I’d even further argue that the governments, both receiving and sending nations are getting a cut in on the profits through their formal process. So arguably a single worker is getting screwed by at minimum 4 different organizations and all of them have a vested interest in screwing the worker while being paid to have a blind eye.
I’m not here to offer solutions, I’m just painting the picture of how fucked everything is. Idk, pass the baton to someone else who might have a solution. I’d argue stronger labor laws and forcing companies to actually pay their workers a livable wage. The Fact that wage theft is large is a sign of a systemic problem, and should be addressed. Additionally outsourcing labor as a means of ‘cheaper’ labor is the ‘AI’ problem of yesteryear that we never solved for, something to do with laying off everyone to hire a workforce of resizable scale with fewer labor law strings attached with severance procedures and protocols. Don’t worry, we’re retarded enough that we’ll reap what we sow and then have people complain about why everything is shit, like a Boomer complaining about grocery prices or home affordability subsistent living off of a dwindling social security that doesn’t outpace inflation. We are in for a hurting, Can kicking and snoozing isn’t free, it’s gonna be bad.
You have to be a special kind of idiot to have corporate loyalty in this day and age. If you are that dumb, you might as well work as a mortgage underwriter that sells 30 year mortgages for a company that exists for only 5 years and declares bankruptcy to clear the debts and hold the bag. (I don’t blame anyone for being an underwriter, but I can tell you that the real writing is on the walls).
They’d sooner fire you and replace you with slaves then give you (your agreed upon) pension plan and retirement fund.
Hell, they’d sooner give you a pizza party then a plaque for commemorating your 20 years + of life given to the company in exchange for little to no compounding equity.
All of the above, is merely a snap shot at what currently is, and hopefully will no longer persist to be as shitty. But, it is what it is until then.
