This is a small shot in the dark to point at the incredulity of the Congress that be.
The 16th amendment said that the government can impose income tax federally, which is (morally) wrong, but whatever. And the Congress has enacted a law to impose taxes a long while back. But they done goofed if you compare such wordings of the law and spirit of the law to current practice of the law;
Article I Section 8 Enumerated Powers Clause 1;
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;
Point is, we have 113 billion or so dollars being spent on expanding NATO imperialism outside of the United States and being fought with United States weaponry without any direct attachment or reason with United States. Additionally 300 billion or so going to Israel for a holy war that isn’t related to the United States.
It’s fucking bonkers.
General Welfare of the United States should include things like food and housing, yet somehow we’ve gone retarded and inflated our food to be unaffordable, the wages to be unlivable, and the American Dream to be unattainable.

Many more people are going homeless, and rent-seeking, leasing, and airbnb hording lordes of new are running amock as people are literally shitting in the streets. Allbeit, not everywhere, but in major cities, people are literally shitting in the streets.
I don’t think this Common Defense or General Welfare is being maintained at all.
Quite Frankly, the US owes like 35 odd Trillion dollars.
How the fuck is it going to pay that amount? That Sum?

I’d be lying to tell you that this empire is alive and well, it’s more truth to say it’s zombified and in the latter stages of figuring out how to regain sentience once lost. The Debt has no plan to be paid, the wars are endless, and the people are discarded.
Common defense is global apparently, and general welfare isn’t well nor fair. It seems Taxes are moot.
It heavily is implied that taxes are moot.
Take that as you will, I hear many not giving a fuck this season, do as thou wilt.
Just a reminder, you are taxed on income and expenditure, so you are doubly taxed.
And if you hold onto the money, you are taxed through inflation.
