So, as it turns out, there are about 170 million US American users of TikTok, rivaling the same 170 million or so US American Users on Facebook.
TikTok is under scrutiny BiPartisanly from both Political parties and the HR 7521 Bill against both TikTok and it’s parent organization, ByteDance, was passed with a majority vote of about 84%.
All under the Guise of ‘China Bad’
Resulting in about 170 million US Americans upsetti, and 7 Million or so US American Small businesses operating under TikTok to question their forward looking statements.
Yea, man, idk, seems like after that whole Kellogg Boycott being too effective, the lobbying powers and Power Brokers of the current Status quo regime didn’t like that and are now targeting the methods of communication and crowdsourcing efforts.
Inevitably waking up a sleeping giant of people wanting to watch dog videos or DIY cooking recipes.
Resulting in both Democratic and Republican parties of America agreeing that ‘Tiktok bad’ under the guise of ‘China Bad’.
Regardless of the outcomes, people will live and continue to survive remembering their history and what happens from such a debate or point of contention. That’s all we’ve been doing throughout all of human history.
In Closing,
I think it’s an interesting point to note that Factual US Proceedings and meeting minutes on the house can be found on Twitter as some sort of Public Repository for the record. I am not sure what the implications of having a digital space created by a private company resulting in a pseudo platform publisher, would entail from a Constitutional perspective. It’s interesting but I digress,
The Government’s overreach on a Foreign Company for providing a good service, is specifically aimed at curtailing the social media aspects and removing that program.
Arguably, this entire Bill HR7521 is unconstitutional and violates the first amendment of freedom of speech, preventing the trade and commerce of ideas through a foreign platform not tied to US Soil (except for that RESTRICT act requiring them to have Databases on US Soil). It’s even more alarming and telling of it’s unconstitutionality, when you consider that many Senators, House Reps, and even the President themself are operating on these platforms.
It’s anti-free market and anti-American to have the government ban a company or corporation for doing too well. Forcing them to sell or specifically targeting them for their business model is anti Constitutional.
In Fact, China would have a more free market comparative to the United States, and they own like a minimum of ten percent of all their domestic businesses.
As a side tangent, it seems like the Government is overreaching and overreacting to the new age of Corporatism. International Corporations are looking to be like the new form of Nomadic Countries without borders, from a Digital Perspective.
The Digital and Physical Worlds are evolving and adapting to eachother, and no one wants to be left behind or eaten. That includes entire nations, power brokers, governments, and foreign profiteering interests.
